Javelina Chase + Road Race/AZ Masters, Juniors State Champs
April 14 - April 15
The Javelina Chase draws competitive and non-competitive cyclists to Duncan, Ariz., where riders can take their pick of road, gravel, time trial and/or crit. Even if you don’t ride a bike, there’s a 5K run so everyone can be active!
In 2018, we’re hosting the Arizona Masters and Juniors Road Race State Championship on Saturday with 25, 50, and 75-mile options, fun rides of 20, 40 and 66 miles, and our gravel grinder rides – The Ghost Mine Rumbles – of 25, 40 and 60 miles.
Riders will then have an option of competing in Individual Time Trials.
Be sure to bring the kids, ages 3-13 to our Bike Rodeo; it provides instruction about bike safety and maintenance and distributes free helmets to youths.
Participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy the Greenlee County Spring Rampage at the fairgrounds which will begin after the riders have returned from the morning events.
On Sunday, the Javelina Chase moves to nearby Lordsburg, N.M. for a full day of exciting, spectator-friendly criterium racing!
Javelina Chase has grown in each of its four years from 24 participants in 2014 to more than 250 in 2017. The goal of the Javelina Chase is to bring an exciting cycling event to Duncan and Greenlee County which enhances cycling and its associated health, fun and environmental benefits and to provide funds for a scholarship for two graduating Greenlee County seniors.
The Javelina Chase is also the final event for racers to garner points for the AZ Road Race Series.
