Arizona’s Marcotte to race at road worlds

USA Cycling unveiled on Monday its 30-member elite, U23 and junior rosters for the 2016 UCI Road World Championships, which will take place on Oct. 9-16 in Doha, Qatar.

Fourteen automatic and 25 discretionary selections make up the elite men’s and women’s, U23 men’s and junior men’s and women’s road race and individual time trial rosters.

Phoenix’s Brandon McNulty (Lux Development) will head to worlds for the second consecutive year for the juniors time trial. He won bronze in 2015 at Richmond, Va.

“It’s great and I’m super excited to be heading over to Qatar,” McNulty said. “Since Richmond, this has been a huge goal and my coach and I have been working really hard all year to make sure I get the best preparation possible.

McNulty said he thinks the course looks fun and its technical nature suits him.

“I think the race will really depend on who can suffer through the extreme heat the best, and I think that suits me as I’ve lived in Phoenix all my life,” McNulty said.
